Experience tradition and mysticism

When the winter evenings get long and dark, a centuries-old tradition comes to life in Mittersill: the Hirschenpass Mittersill Krampus carnival. On December 4, 2024 from 7 p.m., the town square will be transformed into a stage for an impressive spectacle of lights, sounds and terrifying figures. St. Nicholas greets the spectators before the “Young Kramperl” open the spectacle and present their elaborately carved masks and traditional costumes. The sound of the bells and the eerie appearance of the Krampus put the audience in a mixture of amazement and awe.

The passports – variety and craftsmanship

The opening is followed by the presentation of the Krampus groups, each with their own interpretations and elaborate masks. These impressive works of art are often passed down through generations and embody the region’s artisan tradition. The dark, striking masks and the thundering bells create an unforgettable atmosphere that attracts visitors from near and far.
